Taking care of your penis should be your New Year’s resolution.

Are You Normal Down There?

Doc,

My penis seems to be curving more and more, and it’s freaking me out. It’s always bent slightly to the left, but in the last few months, it seems to be bending more and more. Even my current girlfriend made a surprised face when we got back together because we had hooked up a few years back when it wasn’t so curved. Is my penis destined to keep curving?  What do I do?

The first thing to do is to stay calm. There’s some things you’ll need to take care of, but nothing you can’t handle. Before we get into it, thank you, kind sir, for the sending the penis picture as well. There’s nothing I enjoy more than being at work and having penis pics sent to me. There’s a little sarcasm that I hope calmed you down and brought a smile because humour and laughter really is the best medicine.

Most penises have some curvature. But I want to validate your observations that your penis curvature is changing and becoming more intense. The first thing you need to do is make a doctor’s appointment. You may have to see a general practitioner first, and then get a referral to a urologist. Make sure you end up with someone with a specialty in penile sexual health. It would be wise to have the doctor perform tests that take a peek inside your penis to see if there is any damage inside it or if you are dealing with a case of Peyronie’s. Some men injure their penises during sex and don’t know it. Others hear a “pop” sound and experience pain and swelling. Some pray the penis heals itself while the smart ones go to the emergency room. Depending on what your doctors discover, your treatment options will vary. The good news is getting medical care early produces better results. Taking care of your penis should be your New Year’s resolution.

You can start exploring the possibilities online, but take everything you find with a grain of salt. It doesn’t help our anxieties to start thinking of the worst-case scenarios. Just learn, absorb, take things as they come and get educated so you can ask your doctors questions. For a lot of people, doing research and getting educated provides realistic expectations and empowers them. Also, find some people in your life you can talk with, such as a friend, your girlfriend or a family member. It usually helps us to have outside support and people to lean on. Good luck. Next Page >>
