Artwork Guidelines

In order for our design team to produce high-resolution graphics and designs, it is necessary for us to use what is known as “vector” graphics. These graphics differ slightly from what is generally in everyday use on the internet and in print media and is known as “raster” artwork (example .jpg). The biggest advantage of “vector” artwork over “raster” artwork, is that it can be resized to any resolution without the loss of any quality.

When you are submitting Sponsor Logos, or Team Logo’s, we need these in “Vector” format, so they can easily be included by our designers in your body of work. Where you cannot supply detailed logo’s in Vector format, some art charges maybe incurred**. See your Sublimated® Apparel sales rep if you need any further information or assistance.

Examples of Raster Artwork vs. Vector Artwork;

Artwork Files and Fonts

Only professional software packages may be used to produce artwork. Although programs like Microsoft Word and Publisher are useful tools, they are not capable of producing art files of a quality necessary for imprinting purposes.

Fonts

Any fonts used in the production of art files should be converted to curves (outlines) prior to submission. If future typesetting will be required, the original font files must be included with the artwork file.

Vector files

Sometimes called a geometric file, most images created with tools such as Adobe Illustrator and CorelDraw are in the form of vector image files. Vector image files are easier to modify than raster image files. Another way to look at it is that every pixel in the image has an X and a Y axis, this allows easy resizing without loss of quality.

EPS (Vectorised) – (Preferred)

Encapsulated Postscript file: An alternative picture file format that allows PostScript data to be stored and edited and is easy to transfer between Macintosh, Windows machines, and other systems. – .eps files from CorelDraw and Adobe Illustrator work best. Please note Sila® Apparel CANNOT use Photoshop .eps files.

AI – (Preferred)

Adobe Illustrator File, the very best in quality to recreate your artwork in the printing process.
